Winona Ryder is an American actress.
Biography[]
Born Winona Horowitz in Olmstead County, Minnesota, she took acting lessons at the American Consevatory Theater in San Francisco and made a name for herself as gothic teenager Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice, followed by an acclaimed turn as protaganist Veronica Sawyer in Heathers.
Ryder continued to gain mainstream success, including an Academy Award nomination for Age of Innocence, though private troubles led to a brief hiatus in her career. However, she made an appearance in the 2009 Star Trek reboot and played a major supporting role in the ballet drama Black Swan.

Ryder has sung twice on film, firstly in the Generation X comedy Reality Bites, and secondly in a voice role as Elsa Van Helsing in Frankenweenie, where she is forced to sing the patriotic ode "Praise Be New Holland", which features as a bonus track on the film's soundtrack.
