Walter Catlett was an American actor.
Biography[]
Born in San Francisco, California, Catlett began his show business career as a vaudevillian, making his stage debut in 1906. He had a successful career onstage until his film debut in 1924.
Catlett would make a number of memorable screen appearances, including in Yankee Doodle Dandy, Bringing Up Baby and Mr. Deeds Goes to Town. He also provided the voice of J. Worthington "Honest John" Foulfellow in Pinocchio and appeared in the television series Davy Crockett.
Catlett passed away in 1960.
Singing[]
Catlett appeared in a number of stage shows and revues which required him to sing, beginning with the Ziegfeld Follies of 1917. He also originated roles in various Broadway musicals including Sally and Treasure Girl, even singing the title song in Lady, Be Good.
Catlett sang in his role as Honest John in Pinocchio, as well in a number of his screen appearances such as Star Spangled Rhythm, I'll Be Yours and The Boy with Green Hair.
