Tony Haygarth was an English actor.
Biography[]
Born George Haygarth in Liverpool, he tried a number of careers before acting in the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre. He would make a number of appearances in theatre, including in The Tempest, Twelve Angry Men (receiving an Olivier Award nomination for both) and wrote the piece The Lie, which concerned the death of Christopher Marlowe.
Haygarth made his screen debut in Percy in 1971 and made later appearances in Dracula, Fakers and as the voice of Mr. Tweedy in Chicken Run. He played a number of television roles, including PC Wilmot in Rosie, the titular role in Kinvig and Mick Naylor in Emmerdale.
Haygarth passed away in 2017.
