Thelma Ritter was an American actress.
Biography[]
Born in New York City, Ritter studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and began a stage career in such shows as The Shelf and In Times Square before her film debut in Miracle on 34th Street. She had Academy Award nominated roles in All About Eve, Pickup on South Street and Birdman of Alcatraz amongst others.
Ritter also appeared on television in shows including Alfred Hitchcock Presents, General Electric Theater, and The United States Steel Hour as well as films Rear Window, Pillow Talk and The Misfits.
Ritter passed away in 1969.

Ritter sang briefly onscreen, in the films As Young as You Feel, The Farmer Takes a Wife and an episode of The Entertainers. Most notably however, she won a Tony Award for her role as Marthy in the original production of New Girl in Town.
