Tamsin Grieg is an English actress.

Biography[]

Born in Maidstone, Kent, she studied Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Birmingham, getting small roles in The Archers and Neverwhere before her first major appearance as Fran Katzenjammer in Black Books. This began a series of comedic roles in Green Wing, Friday Night Dinner and Episodes.

Grieg also appeared in a number of serious roles, receiving an Olivier Award for her role as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing in 2006. She also made several film appearances, as the long-suffering Beth Hardiment in Tamara Drewe, and as Lavinia Beach in The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Singing[]

As well as briefly singing humorous parody of a traditional Irish song in Black Books, Grieg received an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a musical for her role as Pepa in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. She also performed a burlesque style version of "Sonnet 135" in a production of Twelfth Nightin 2017.
