Stephen Tompkinson is an English actor.
Biography[]
Born in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, Tompkinson studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama and guest-starred in a number of television shows before playing his first major role - that of unscrupulous reporter Damien Day in Drop the Dead Donkey.
Though he appeared in the film Brassed Off and plays including Arsenic and Old Lace and Charley's Aunt, Tompkinson's best known roles were on television, including Father Peter Clifford in Ballykissangel, Danny Trevanion in Wild at Heart and the title character in DCI Banks.

Singing briefly in Shakespeare: The Animated Tales and Drop the Dead Donkey, Tompkinson made his musical theatre debut as King Arthur in Spamalot.
