Spring Byington was an American actress.

Biography[]

Born in Colorado Springs, she initially worked in medicine before appearing in a number of amateur theatre productions, later moving into professional roles and appearing on Broadway with Beggar on Horseback. She made her film debut in 1930 and became widely recognised for her role in The Jones Family film series.

During and following the Second World War, Byington made most of her appearances on radio, appearing in the sitcom December Moon, later making her final screen appearances on television productions such as Laramie, Kentucky Jones and The Flying Nun.

Byington passed away in 1971.

Singing[]

Byington's singing was mostly limited to performing in groups, such as in her second film, Little Women, in which she sang "Abide With Me." However she also performed the duet "Spoonin' Moon" during her appearance on The Tennessee Ernie Ford Show.
