Sophie Thompson is an English actress.
Biography[]
Born in London to actress Phyllida Law, Thompson made her screen debut in the television series A Traveller in Time and studied at Bristol Old Vic School. She appeared as Ophelia in a 1988 production of Hamlet and starred in such films as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Emma and Gosford Park.
Thompson also made a number of appearances on television, including Midsomer Murders and A Harlot's Progress and a notorious turn as the soap villain Stella Crawford in EastEnders.

After receiving an Olivier Award nominated performance for her turn as Amy in Company , Thompson also portrayed the Baker's Wife in Into the Woods and Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls.
