Shelley Duvall is an American actress.

Biography[]

Born in Houston, Texas, Duvall was cast in the film Brewster McCloud whilst working in cosmetics, the first of several roles with Robert Altman which included Thieves Like Us and Nashville. She also gained several awards for her role as Millie in 3 Women.

Duvall would follow this with an appearance as Wendy Torrance in The Shining as well as supporting roles in Time Bandits and Roxanne. She would also appear in a number of television series including Faerie Tale Theatre (which she hosted), but her screen appearances would decline over the following decade.

Singing[]

Duvall sang briefly when presenting Saturday Night Live in 1977, but would have a much larger role when playing Olive Oyl in Popeye, where she would sing such songs as "He Needs Me."

She would also release two albums in 1991, featuring a collection of Christmas songs and lullabies respectively.
