Sean Astin is an American actor.
Biography[]
Born in Santa Monica, the adopted son of actor John Astin, he gained his first acting role in 1981 and soon played one of his most iconic roles, that of Mikey in The Goonies. A number of film roles followed, including War of the Roses and Rudy.
Astin's greatest success came as the loyal and humble gardener Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings series, during the filming of which he directed a short film The Long and Short of It. He also became a voice actor, a career which included the role of Raphael jn the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

Astin has only one singing role to his name, playing Mayor Wayne in Love's Christmas Journey, where he sings "Deck the Halls".
