Sammy Smith was an American actor.

Biography[]

Born in Maywood, New Jersey, he became best known for theatrical roles, both singing and non-singing (such as Doc in West Side Story) but also appeared in the television series' Car 54, Where Are You?, The Jackie Gleason Show and films including Act One and The Changeling.

Smith passed away in 1997.

Singing[]

Smith originated the stage roles of Lou Kandel in Wish You Were Here, Isaac Miller in Plain and Fancy and Wally/Mr. Twimble in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (as well as reprising the role for the film adaptation.

Smith also appeared in such parts as Vernon in The Pajama Game, Andrew Carnes in Oklahoma! and Sancho Panza in Man of La Mancha.
