Sally Dworsky is an American actress and singer.
Biography[]
Born in Minnesota, Dworsky started of as a backing vocalist for bands such as REM before becoming a successful singer, songwriter and actress in her own right, as well as performing with Uma. Her brother with Richard, a pianist and composer, has worked with her on several occasions.
Singing[]
Dworsky began her singing career in films by providing tracks on the soundtracks of two productions, The Wizard in 1989 and The Cutting Edge in 1992.
She then gained attention for providing the singing voice of Nala in Disney's The Lion King, where she would sing "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" one of the film's breakaway hits. In 1995 Dworsky released Habit Trail, her first solo album, and in 1998 she provided the singing voice of another animated character, Miriam from The Prince of Egypt, singing "When You Believe", a song that would win the Academy Award for Best Original Song. That same year she could be heard on the album Fare Well by Uma.
Dworsky also provided the singing vocalisations for Princess Fiona in Shrek. She released a second solo album, Start it All Over Again, in 2006, and a third, Boxes, in 2008.
