Sian Phillips is a Welsh actress.
Biography[]
Born Jane Phillips in Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen, Glamorgan, she acting on radio at the age of ten. She was a member of both was a member of the BBC Repertory Company and the National Theatre Company and appeared in such plays as The Taming of the Shrew, Hedda Gabler and Saint Joan. She appeared a number of times on television, most notably as Livia in I, Claudius.
Phillips also appeared in several films, including Goodbye, Mr Chips, Clash of the Titans and Valmont. She later appeared in Calendar Girls and the cabaret Crossing Borders, provided spoken narration on the album Release the Stars and was made a Dame for her services to acting in 2016.

Phillips made her musical debut playing Vera in Pal Joey and originated the role of Mrs. Chichester in Peg. She frequently played older character roles including Aunt Alicia in Gigi, Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret and the title role in Marlene, a role which she originated.
