Russell Nype is an American actor.

Biography[]

Born in Zion, Illinois, Nype made his Broadway debut in 1949 and appeared in a number of stage shows, twice earning a Tony Award for his performances. Nype also appeared in films such as Love Story and Can't Stop the Music as well as episodes of Fantasy Island and Murder, She Wrote.

Singing[]

A singer and dancer in numerous stage shows, Nype made his stage debut in Regina and originated the roles of Freddie in Great to Be Alive, Kenneth in Call Me Madam and George Randolph Brown in Goldilocks, earning a Tony Award for the latter two roles. He also appeared in revivals of Carousel, My Fair Lady and Hello, Dolly!
