Ron Taylor was an American actor and musician.

Biography[]

Born Ronald James Taylor in Galveston, Texas, he studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and trained as a singer before gaining success as a stage musical star.

Taylor also made a number of screen appearances, making his debut in Trading Places and providing the voices of Mugsy and Bruno in Rover Dangerfield. He also appeared in such television series as The Simpsons (as Bleeding Gums Murphy) and Matlock (as Tyler Mullins).

Taylor passed away in 2002.

Singing[]

Taylor made his start in stage musicals playing Issachar in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and various roles in The Wiz before his big break as the original voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors.

Taylor also sang on Matlock and L.A. Law and as Porthos in The Three Musketeers as well as creating and starring in the stage revue It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues.
