Robert Duvall is an American actor.
Biography[]
Born in San Diego, California, Duvall studied at the Neighbourhood Playhouse School of Acting, and made his stage debut in Laughter in the Stars, and appeared in such major plays as The Crucible and Dial M for Murder. He made his television debut in 1959 and film debut as Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockinbird in 1962.
Duvall soon became a major success due to his role as Major Frank Burns in M*A*S*H and his Academy Award nominated roles under Francis Ford Coppola, Tom Hagen in The Godfather and Lt. Colonel Bill Kilgore in Apocalypse Now. He won an Academy Award after numerous nominations for Tender Mercies, and continued to give acclaimed performances in films such as Falling Down, The Judge, and as Josef Stalin on television, for which he received an Emmy nomination.

Duvall has sung in several of his films, notably in Tender Mercies, where he played country musician Mac Sledge. On several other occasions he performed country music, including two duets with Willie Nelson in 1918 and as Wayne in Crazy Heart, where he performed "Live Forever."
