Robbie Coltrane was a Scottish actor.
Biography[]
Born Anthony McMillan in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, he studied at Glasgow School of Art and Moray House College of Education, working in theatre and later moving into television comedy such as Alfresco and The Young Ones. He first came to major public attention appearing as Dr. Eddie "Fitz" Fitzgerald in Cracker.
Coltrane was also a star in a number of major motion pictures, including playing Sir John Falstaff in Kenneth Branagh's Henry V, Valentin Zukovsky in the James Bond series and Rubeus Hagrid, the groundskeeper in Harry Potter. He also made a number of documentaries, namely Coltrane's Planes and Automobiles and B-Road Britain.
Coltrane died in 2022.

Coltrane sang in a handful of productions, beginning with the comedy series Alfresco where he played a number of roles, and several times in his long running role in Cracker. He also sang the drunken duet "Odo the Hero" with Jim Broadbent in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
