Richard O'Callaghan is an English actor.

Biography[]

Born in London, England to actress Patricia Hayes, he made his television debut in Out of the Unknown and appeared in such series as Midsomer Murders, Casualty and Red Dwarf. He also had roles on radio, playing Meriadoc "Merry" Brandbuck in The Lord of the Rings and stage, such as in Educating Rita and Titus Andronicus.

O'Callaghan's best known roles came as part of the Carry On series, succeeding Jim Dale as the handsome young man. He also provided the voice of Dandelion in Watership Down.

Singing[]

O'Callaghan made his sole singing appearance in the radio production of The Lord of the Rings, performing "To Rivendell."
