Rex Everhart was an American actor.
Biography[]
Born in Watseka, Illinois, Everhart made his screen debut on television with the Lux Video Theatre and would go on to appear in guest parts in a number of series before becoming an established stage actor, gaining a Tony Award nomination for Working.
Everhart also appeared in a number of films, including the original Superman and Friday the 13th. In later years he notably played Maurice, the father of Belle in Beauty and the Beast.
He passed away in 2000.
Singing[]
Everhart sang in several stage musicals, beginning with the role of Joe in the original production of Tenderloin and Stanley in Skyscraper. His best-known role came when he had to take over for Howard Da Silva as Benjamin Franklin in 1776 on opening night (and the later cast recording).
Everhart later took over as Amos Hart in the original run of Chicago, and would originate a number of other roles, including Murray in Woman of the Year as well as portraying "Big Tim" Sullivan in Rags. His final role came playing Elisha J. Whitney in a revival of Anything Goes.
