Reece Shearsmith is an English actor and comedy writer.
Biography[]
Born Reeson Shearsmith in Hull, East Riding, he began his acting and comedy career when, with fellow performers and writers Jeremy Dyson, Mark Gatiss and Steve Pemberton, he founded The League of Gentlemen, appearing with the group as a stage, radio and television performer respectively. On television he also made appearances in Spaced, Psychoville and his own co-creation Inside No. 9.
Shearsmith also appeared in several films, including Burke & Hare and the animated Free Jimmy. He also played a number of stage roles, including both musical and straight plays such as Hangmen and The Dresser (wherein he played the title character).
Singing[]
Shearsmith sang briefly in the television comedy Max & Paddy's Road to Nowhere and more prominently in the musical medieval series Galavant and his own black comedy Inside No. 9. He also appeared in three stage musicals, as Leo Bloom in The Producers and originating the roles of Mr. Stuart in Cool Rider and Gilbert Chilvers in Betty Blue Eyes.
