Patrick Macnee was an English actor.

Biography[]

Born Daniel Macnee in Paddington, London, he studied at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and served in the Royal Navy during World War II before making early screen appearances in The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, Scrooge, and The Battle of the River Plate as well as serving as a producer on The Valiant Years. In 1961 he made his first appearance as secret agent John Steed in The Avengers, his most famous role.

Macnee went on to appear in a number of films, including The Howling, This is Spinal Tap and the James Bond picture A View to a Kill. He also had guest appearances in Alias Smith and Jones, Frasier and appeared as Andrew Wyke in a Broadway production of Anthony Shaffer's Sleuth.

Macnee passed away in 2015.

Singing[]

Macnee sang on a number of occasions, performing "Green Grow the Rushes, Ho" in The Avengers and guest appearing on Die Rudi Carrell Show, where he sang "Mit Schirm und mit Charme und Melone."

Macnee also appeared on two albums, the chart-topping Kinky Boots, and as King Arthur in the 1968 studio recording of Camelot.
