Omid Djalili is an English actor and comedian.
Biography[]
Born in Chelsea, London, Djalili became known as a stand-up comedian, first gaining recognition after his appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1995. He made a number of tours and also appeared as himself on such shows as Have I Got News for You and for Prince Charles' 60th birthday celebrations We Are Not Amused.
Djalili also performed frequently as an actor, often as a character performer in films such as The Mummy, Gladiator and Casanova. He also appeared in television series including The Omid Djalili Show and Thunderbirds Are Go and provided voices for Over the Hedge and the video game Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Singing[]
Djalili sang the pop hit "Hi Ho Silver Lining" in Anita & Me and "I Sing the Body Electric" whilst a guest on Angela and Friends. More prominently he played the role of Fagin in Oliver! and Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof.
