Mimi Turque is an American actress.
Biography[]
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Turque played her first major role as Louise in the 1961 national tour of Gypsy before becoming a mainstay on the Broadway stage. As well as her numerous musical appearances, she also appeared in several straight plays including Teibele and Her Demon and co wrote the musical Blue Roses.
Singing[]
After her role in Gypsy, Turque played a number of major roles including Lili in Carnival! as well as originating the part of Antonia Quijana in Man of La Mancha and playing both Tzeitel and Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof.
Turque also understudied the role of Jenny in the revival production of The Threepenny Opera on Broadway, and played the part of Molina's Mother in Kiss of the Spider Woman.
