Martin Clunes is an English actor.

Biography[]

Born Alexander Clunes in Wimbledon, Surrey to classical actor Alec Clunes, he began in repertory theatre before making his screen debut in Doctor Who. He began to make regular appearances on television before his first lead as Gary Strang in the long-running series Men Behaving Badly.

Clunes would later appear in a number of films including Shakespeare in Love and Saving Grace but would mostly stick to television, playing Dr. Martin Ellingham in Doc Martin and Reggie in Reggie Perrin, voicing Kipper in the series of the same name and hosting documentaries on such subjects as dogs, lions and the Australian islands.

Clunes sang several times in his comedy shows, notably a number of duets in Demob, performing at karaoke night in Men Behaving Badly and delivering a passionate rendition of "Back for Good" in Reggie Perrin.
