Marlon Brando was an American actor.
Biography[]
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Brando studied at the American Theatre Wing School in New York and became a practitioner of the Stanislavski method. He soon became noted for his new style of performing and gained recognition for his performance as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire, a role he reprised on screen. He soon became a successful film actor too, gaining an Academy Award nomination for Viva Zapata!.
Brando's prima donna like behaviour, usage of cue cards and insistence on exorbitant fees led to his downfall however, and it was not until his universally acclaimed performance in The Godfather that he experienced a brief resurgence, following this hit with the controversial Last Tango in Paris. After this peak, he began to decline and later fall into ill health, which hindered his ability to perform.
Brando passed away in 2004.

Despite his self admitted limited vocal range, Brando performed in two of his films; as Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, and briefly as Ambassador Harrison Carter MacWhite in The Ugly American.
