Marilyn Monroe was an American actress.

Biography[]

Born Norma Jeane Mortenson in Los Angeles, California, she initially worked as a model before making her screen debut in 1947. Soon after, she studied at the Actors' Laboratory Theatre. She had her first major role in Ladies of the Chorus and soon began to rise to stardom with supporting roles in All About Eve and Home Town Story, frequently being cast as the bubbly, comic blonde.

After appearing in the successful Niagara and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Monroe received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in Bus Stop and later an award for Some Like It Hot

Monroe passed away in 1962.

Singing[]

Monroe performed in a number of films, firstly in Ladies of the Chorus, and notably in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which included the songs "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Bye Bye Baby."

Later, Monroe would sing such classics as "That Old Black Magic" in Bus Stop and "I'm Thru With Love" in Some Like It Hot. She also famously sang "Happy Birthday" at President Kennedy's Birthday Salute.
