Maggie Steed is a British actress.
Born Margaret Baker in Plymouth, England, she studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School before performing at the Coventry Belgrade and Royal National Theatres as well as with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She made her television debut on Coronation Street in 1970 and went on to have roles in a number of programmes including Shine on Harvey Moon, Pie in the Sky and Born and Bred.
Steed's film debut came later, in 1980 though she would appear in such films as The Miserables, Transformers: The Last Knight and Paddington 2. She also helped to devise the benefit concert An Evening for Nicaragua and had roles in comic productions including Noises Off and The Belle's Stratagem.
Steed briefly sang twice in 2008, performing "The Flower Duet" in Clatterford, and joining a crowd singing the classic protest march piece "We Shall Overcome" in Midsomer Murders.
