Mae Clarke was an American actress.

Biography[]

Born Violet May Klotz in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she began as a vaudeville artist and a dancer before appearing in two prominent roles as Elizabeth Lavenza in Frankenstein and Kitty in The Public Enemy. She also received positive reviews for her role in Waterloo Bridge.

y the 1950s, Clarke only played small roles and bit parts in films, including Singin' in the Rain and Thoroughly Modern Millie, as well as television appearances in General Hospital, Perry Mason and Batman.

Clarke passed away in 1992.

As well as being a vaudeville performer, Clarke sang twice onscreen, as Daphne Flowers in The Man With Two Faces, and as Jo Allen in Hats Off.
