Lynda Baron is an English actress.

Biography[]

Born Lilian Brown in Urmston, Lancashire, she began in repertory theatre and appeared in such films as Up Pompeii and Hands of the Ripper. She later moved into television, having popular long-running roles in Open All Hours and Oh No, It's Selwyn Froggitt! as well as playing Auntie Mabel in Come Outside.

Baron also appeared in such films as Carry on Columbus and Scoop as well as a number of plays including In Celebration and When We Are Married.

Singing[]

Baron made her stage debut in the musical revue One Over the Eight, and performed "The Ballad of the Last Chance Saloon" in Doctor Who. She also played such musical roles as the Older Belle in Little Me and Stella Deems in Follies, as well as originating the role of Cordelia in Maddie.
