Lisa Kirk was an American actress.
Biography[]
Born Elsie Kirk in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, she left her law studies to join the chorus line at the Versailles nightclub. She made her Broadway debut soon after in 1947.
Though best known for her stage productions, Kirk also appeared on television a number of times, including anthologies such as Studio One and General Electric Theater as well as Bewitched and The Courtship of Eddie's Father.
Kirk passed away in 1990.
Singing[]
Kirk had a long running stage career, making her musical debut originating the role of Emily in Allegro and Lois Lane in Kiss Me, Kate (later playing Lili in a different production). She also dubbed the majority of Rosalind Russell's singing in Gypsy.
She also took over the role of Doris Walker in Here's Love (including the tour) and originated roles in Mack & Mabel and Home Again, Home Again, making her final performance in a concert of Nymph Errant, singing "The Physician."
