Lionel Jeffries was an English actor and director.
Biography[]
Born in Forest Hill, London, he trained at RADA following a decorated military career before becoming a repertory theatre performer. He soon went on to become a beloved screen actor, appearing in such works as The Quatermass Experiment, Camelot and The Prisoner of Zenda.
Jeffries also became a writer-director in the Seventies, creating such childrens films as The Railway Children, The Amazing Mr. Blunden and The Water Babies. He retired in 2001.
Jeffries passed away in 2010.

Jeffries sang in several films, namely Call Me Bwana, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (as Grandpa Potts) and A Chorus of Disapproval. He also played the role of Horace Vandergelder on stage as Hello, Dolly!
