Biography[]
Born in Los Angeles, California, he worked in advertisements from the age of 14 and appeared in television series such as Parenthood and Santa Barbara. He made his film debut in 1991, but breakthrough roles came with This Boy's Life, What's Eating Gilbert Grape and Baz Luhrmann's updating of Romeo and Juliet.
DiCaprio's first major universal success came playing Jack Dawson in Titanic. This led to success onscreen where he frequently appeared in biopics (Catch Me If You Can, The Aviator) as well as historical dramas such as Gangs of New York. He received an Academy Award nomination for his role in The Wolf of Wall Street and a victory for the survival thriller Revenant.
