Kate Beckinsale is an English actress.
Biography[]
Born Kathrin Beckinsale in Chiswick, London, her parents were both actors and she was a member of the Oxford University Dramatic Society, appearing in A View From the Bridge amongst other productions. She made her first official appearance in Devices and Desires before a larger role as Hero in the 1993 adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing, as Flora Poste in Cold Comfort Farm, Emma Woodhouse in the 1996 adaptation of Emma and a lauded stage performance in The Seagull.
Beckinsale began to gain screen success following appearances in the blockbuster Pearl Harbor as well as the action-adventure series Underworld; in which she played the vampire Selene. She would also appear in broader works such as Snow Angels, Stonehearst Asylum and Love & Friendship as well as providing the voice of Queen Ayrenn in the video game Elder Scrolls Online.

Beckinsale only sang briefly onscreen, performing the duet "Father, Father, Build Me a Boat" in her title role in Emma and "Amazing Grace" in The Last Days of Disco.
