Julie Walters is an English actress.

Biography[]

Born in Edgbaston, Birmingham, Walters studied Drama at Manchester Polytechnic and worked with the Everyman Theatre Company, before gaining recognition working with Victoria Wood, and appearing in the stage and film versions of Educating Rita (earning an Academy Award nomination for the latter).

Walters had a career balanced between film and stage appearances, including the Oliver Award nominated All My Sons, and films such as Billy Elliot, Calendar Girls and the Harry Potter series.

Singing[]

Walters had a handful of singing roles, including as Mrs. Peachum in Mack the Knife, whilst reprising her Mrs. Overall character for the stage in Acorn Antiques, and as Rosie, one third of former girl band "The Dynamos" in Mamma Mia!
