Joseph Cotten was an American actor.

Biography[]

Born in Petersburg, Virginia, he began his acting career in the theatre, making a Broadway debut in 1930 and appearing in a number of productions under Orson Welles and his Mercury Players, who would give him his film debut and later direct him in starmaking roles in The Magnificent Ambersons and Citizen Kane.

Cotten soon became a successful film actor, appearing in lead roles in films including The Third Man and Shadow of a Doubt before taking on more supporting roles later in his career, such as in Soylent Green and Heaven's Gate.

Cotten passed away in 1994.

Singing[]

Cotten sang briefly in only one motion picture, performing "The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo" with his onscreen family in The Magnificent Ambersons.
