Jonathan Rhys Meyers is an Irish actor.

Biography[]

Born Jonathan O'Keeffe in Dublin, Ireland, he made early film appearances in A Man of No Importance and Michael Collins before his career-making role as Brian Slade in Velvet Goldmine. He also appeared in television productions including Gormenghast, Dracula and most famously as the Tudor King Henry VIII in The Tudors.

Meyers also performed as a musician and was a model for Hugo Boss and Club Monaco, as wellbeing a charity ambassador. He appeared in major motion pictures Damascus, and The Rising, which was made to commemorate the centenary of the Easter Rising.

Singing[]

As wel as performing several glam rock style songs in Velvet Goldmine, Rhys-Meyers also sang several songs, including "Moondance" in August Rush, in which he played singer-songwriter Louis Connelly.
