Jon Cypher is an American actor.

Biography[]

Born in New York City, Cypher studied at the University of Vermont before making his television debut in the musical Cinderella. Soon after, he made his Broadway debut in The Disenchanted and would continue to appear in both musicals and straight plays.

As well as his stage roles, Cypher also became known for his characters in long running series such as Hill Street Blues and Major Dad, and films including Valdez is Coming and Masters of the Universe.

Singing[]

Cypher appeared in a large number of mostly stage musicals, (following his role as Prince Christopher in the television musical version Cinderella), notably originating the role of Dr. Sanson Carrasco in Man of La Mancha. He also appeared in the original casts of Sherry! and big: The Musical.

Cypher also played notable roles in long running musicals such as Bill Sykes in Oliver!, Juan Perón in Evita and the leading role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon of Barber of Fleet Street.
