John Dehner was an American actor.
Biography[]
Born John Forkum in Staten Island, New York, he began a career as an animator for Walt Disney Studios and went on to work on radio before making his screen debut in 1944. He would appear in numerous films including playing Pat Garrett in The Left Handed Kid, Doutreval of Dijon in Scaramouche and Colonel Ames in Support Your Local Gunfighter.
Dehner was also a frequent performer on television, including guest roles on The Twilight Zone and Rawhide as well as recurring parts on The Baileys of Balboa (as Commodore Cecil Wyntoon) and Hadden Marshall in Bare Essence.
Dehner passed away in 1992.

Dehner made his sole brief singing appearance as villain Hardy Tate on Gunsmoke, though he had made several musical appearances on stage early on his career.
