John Bluthal was a Polish born British actor.
Biography[]
Born in Galicia, the Second Republic of Poland, he studied Drama in Melbourne and appeared in repertory theatre before mainly appearing in British television in such shows as Never Mind the Quality, Fireball XL5 and various productions on screen and radio with Spike Milligan.
Bluthal also appeared in a number of films, including the spoof Casino Royale, several of The Pink Panther movies, and the comedy Hail, Caesar! His longest running role however was that of Frank Pickle in the television series The Vicar of Dibley.
Bluthal passed away in 2018.
Singing[]
Bluthal sang twice on stage, playing the major role of Fagin in Oliver!, and later playing one of the gangsters in Kiss Me, Kate.
He also sang a number of song fragments during his time on The Vicar of Dibley, including a selection from The Jungle Book, and the classic "You'll Never Walk Alone", and released a comic album of ballads with Joe Lynch, entitled Act One, Scenes One & Two in a Pub.
