John Alderton is an English actor.
Biography[]
Born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, he began in the theatre in The Doctor and the Devils, Spring and Port Wine and The Birthday Party before moving into recurring roles in television programmes including Emergency-Ward 10, Please Sir and My Wife Next Door, also appearing in the film adaptation.
Alderton later appeared in the films Vardoz, It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet and Calendar Girls and was the original narrator of Fireman Sam.
Singing[]
Alderton sang in Upstairs, Downstairs alongside his real-life spouse Pauline Collins, who he also sang with in the spin-off, Thomas & Sarah. In Tales of the Unexpected, he sang the hymn "Lord Jesus, Think on Me."
