Jerry Stiller was an American actor and comedian.
Biography[]
Born Gerald Isaac Stiller in Brooklyn, New York, he studied at Syracuse University and became a successful comic in both Shakespeare plays and as part of the double act "Stiller and Meara." He made his film debut in 1970 and went onto appear in such productions as the original versions of The Taking of Pelham 123 and Hairspray.
Stiller also appeared in the television series Seinfeld as the recurring guest character Frank Costanza and played Arthur Spooner in The King of Queens. He continued to appear in motion pictures, including the adventure film Secret of the Andes and the comedy Zoolander, alongside his son Ben.
Stiller passed away in 2020.
Singing[]
Stiller sang in a number of stage musicals, notably originating the role of Mayor Juniper in The Golden Apple as well as the part of Launce in Two Gentlemen of Verona.
Stiller also sang "Silent Night" in an episode of The King of Queens and sang two songs in his voice role as Pretty Boy in Teacher's Pet.
