Janet Leigh was an American actress.

Biography[]

Born Jeanette Morrison in Merced, California, she was discovered by actress Norma Shearer and made her screen debut in 1947's The Romance of Rosy Ridge. This was followed by roles in such films as The Red Danube, The Naked Spur and Prince Valiant. Those she was initially known for her ingenue roles, such as Aline de Gavrillac in Scaramouche, she branched our into more dramatic performances, including Safari.

Leigh would make memorable appearances in the thrillers Touch of Evil and Psycho respectively and began to appear frequently on television in shows such as The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Twilight Zone and Fantasy Island. She twice appeared onscreen with her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis (in The Fog and Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later) and made her final film appearance posthumously in Bad Girls from Teen Valley High.

Leigh passed away in 2004.

Singing[]

Having sung in choirs as a young girl, Leigh would go on to sing in a number of films, firstly with others such as when playing Meg in Little Women before playing larger singing parts such as Chris Hall in Walking My Baby Back Home and Eileen Sherwood in My Sister Eileen.
