James Grout is a English actress.

Biography[]

Born in London, England, he studied at RADA and was both a theatre and television actor, appearing in such shows in Seeing and Believing, The First Lady and Dixon of Dock Green.

Grout also appeared in such radio shows as The Lord of the Rings and the Professor in Old Harry's Game. He was best known as Superintendent Strange in Inspector Morse.

Grout passed away in 2012.

Singing[]

Grout received a Tony Award nomination for his role in Half a Sixpence, as well as in the unlikely setting of Hell, leading a chorus of the hymn "Abide With Me" in Old Harry's Game.
