Greer Garson was an English actress.

Biography[]

Born Eileen Garson in Manor Hill, Essex, she began her acting career in Birmingham Repertory Theatre and appeared in several early live television broadcasts including Twelfth Night in 1937. Sometime later she received an Academy Award nomination for her role in ‘’Goodbye Mr. Chips’’ and gained plaudits for appearing in Pride and Prejudice and Blossoms in the Dust before winning an Academy Award for playing Kay in Mrs. Miniver.

Garson also had Academy Award nominated roles in Madame Curie, Mrs Parkington and The Valley of Decision but in later years generally only appearing guest roles on television gameshows such as What’s My Line? She had her final film role in The Happiest Millionaire and made her final television appearance on The Love Boat in 1982.

Garson passed away in 1996.

Garson duetted with Joan Crawford in When Ladies Meet and performed the showstopper "She's Ma Daisy." She also sang several songs in Julia Misbehaves (including the duet “Wonderful One”) and “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” in The Little Drummer Boy Book II.
