Emily Watson is an English actress.

Biography[]

Born in Islington, London, Watson trained at Drama Studio London and began her career on stage with the Royal Shakespeare Company before gaining renown for her film debut in Lars Von Trier's Breaking the Waves. She also gained an Olivier Award nomination for her performance in Sam Mendes' Uncle Vanya.

Watson continued to make acclaimed performances both on stage and on screen, gaining a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Anne Howe, the first wife of Peter Sellers, won a BAFTA for her role in Appropriate Adult, and gained a OBE in 2015 for her services to acting.

In her career, Watson has only sung for one role, as Olive Stanton in Cradle Will Rock. Her solo, "Moll's Song", appears on the film's soundtrack album.
