Eddie Marsan is an English actor.

Biography[]

Born in Stepney, London, Marsan studied at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and began work as a television actor, appearing in such series as The Piglet Files and Game On. As his career progressed, Marsan would go on to have small parts in major films such as Gangs of New York and V For Vendetta, before gaining recognition in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes as Inspector Lestrade as well as sizeable plaudits for Happy-Go-Lucky.

Subsequently, Marsan would continue to make frequent film appearances, often as criminal or unsavoury characters, though he also played sympathetic characters such as in the action comedy The World's End. In 2015 he would play the titular Gilbert Norrell in the television series Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell and Thomas Cream in the detective series River.

Marsan performed in only one film, the television movie Pierrepoint, in which he performs two standards of the time, "Makin' Whoopee" and "Jealous Heart". He also sang in the musica television series Galavnt, in which he played Death.
