Dylan Moran is an Irish comedian and actor.
Biography
Born in County Meath, Moran began his stand-up career in Dublin in 1992 before making his debut in Edinburgh the following year, where he won the "So You Think You're Funny?" Award. In 1998 he took the leading role as former comedy club owner Ian Lyons in the television series How Do You Want Me?, making his film debut shortly after as Rufus the Thief in Notting Hill.
Moran is best known, however, for writing the hit sitcom Black Books, in which he stars as misanthropic, drunken bookshop owner Bernard Black, as well as various character roles in British comedies such as Shaun of the Dead and Run, Fat Boy, Run. He regularly returns to the stand-up circuit, both as a performer at the Edinburgh Fringe and on his various solo tours.
Singing
Though he sometimes incorporates singing into his stand-up routines (demonstrating how he unnerves the doctor giving him a rectal exam by singing "Strangers in the Night"), Moran's sole singing role came in the film The Actors, in which he sings the original song "Could This Be Love?" at the karaoke bar, still in role as a Cockney gang courier.
