Donald Madden was an American actor.

Biography[]

Born in New York City, he attended the City College of New York and appeared in regional theatre before making his Broadway debut in 1959. He played a number of classical roles to great acclaim, including Julius Caesar and Hamlet (in which he played the lead).

Madden also appeared on television a number of times, notably playing a recurring role in the series Dr. Kildare. He appeared in the soap operas, One Life To Live and Another World. In 1975 he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Tony Awards for his part in Black Comedy/White Lies.His last performance for television was a 1980 adaptation of Mark Twain 's "Life On The Mississippi".

Madden passed away in 1983.

Singing[]

Madden appeared in two stage productions, playing Charles Bingley in First Impressions, a musical adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, and as John Dickinson in the film version of 1776. His solo song, "Cool, Considerate Men", was cut from the original , theatrical version and not restored until the film's DVD release.
