David Warner was an English actor.

Biography[]

Born in Manchester, Lancashire, Warner trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and made his stage debut in 1962 playing Snout in A Midsummer Night's Dream. The following year he made his screen debut, and soon became known for a balanced stage and screen career, famously the villainous "Evil" in Time Bandits and the titular character onstage in Hamlet.

Warner also became known for his roles in science fiction and horror productions, such as two Star Trek films and The Omen. In later years he also became a popular voice actor, playing Batman villain Ra's Al Ghul in Batman: The Animated Series.

Warner passed away in 2022.

Warner has sung twice in his career, in the musical Hansel and Gretel as the Father, and as the Western music loving Professor Grisenko in Doctor Who.
