David Carradine was an American actor and musician.
Biography[]
Born John Carradine Jr. in Hollywood,California, to veteran actor John Carradine Sr., he began to act after forming an "entertainment unit" whilst serving in the United States Army. He made his screen debut in 1963 and had his big break onstage with The Royal Hunt of the Sun. Carradine's first star role came however when he played the Shaolin monk Kwai Chang Caine in Kung Fu, a part he would reprise in several films and follow up series.
Carradine appeared in a number of motion pictures, including Death Race 2000 and The Long Riders, though many of his projects became cult, rather than blockbuster, successes. An exception to this was Kill Bill, in which he played the mysterious titular antagonist.
Carradine passed away in 2009.
Singing[]
A talented musician as well as actor, Carradine released a solo album entitled Grasshopper shortly before his appearance as the folk musician Woody Guthrie in Bound for Glory, in which he sang many of Guthrie's best known songs.
Carradine sang in a number of films such as Americana and Sonny Boy - often penning the songs himself - as well as performing several numbers as washed up singer Jimmy Le Grand in an episode of Matlock.
